About the book
Ribbons, coins, a cup, a spoon: hard-working Michelle earned them all. But her cozy den in Drearyland holds just one lonely Donk.
One stormy night, a coin rolls across the floor, and something rolls right back: a tiny disc of glass. When Michelle peers through it, she sees golden hearts glowing on the soggy neighbors hurrying past in the rain.
A tiny voice inside her said,as chilly as the storm,“Your den is small. Just keep it shut, and you’ll stay snug and warm.”
Michelle has a choice to make.
Michelle just shook her ears. “Oh, pooh!A den is made to share!”She trotted to the arch and called,“Come in! There’s room to spare!”
Soon a mouse, a crow, a lizard, a rat, a tortoise, a sneezy bat and one prickly porcupine are warm and fed, and her new friends have a surprise of their own. Then, through her seeing lens, Michelle spots something far away: other lonely Donks, glowing like stars and waiting to be found. And so her search begins.
Told in bouncy read-aloud rhyme, Queen Michelle and the Tiny Seeing Lens is a warm story about working hard, choosing to share, and seeing the good heart in everyone. Thirteen hidden treasures are tucked into the pictures, with a find-it page and answer key at the back.

Peek inside
From the first pages
Inside her den in Drearyland, just past Stinknose Bend, there lived a little Donk, Michelle, who’d not yet found a friend.
Michelle, you see, was not too tall, yet anything but plain. She had a twinkle in her eyeand ribbons in her mane.
She gathered threads from brickle brushand thistle fluff so fine, and wove them into ribbons bright, each day, in rain or shine.
She swapped her ribbons, one by one,for oats and hay and bread,a few small coins, a cup, a spoon,a blanket for her bed.
The home she’d built was cozy, yes, from work her hooves had done. But deep inside, she dearly wishedher den held more than one.
Outside the wind blew cold and grey;the rain went pitter-pat,as soggy creatures hurried by:a mouse, a crow, a rat.
One night, while polishing her gold,a coin slipped free. Click-clack!It rolled across the earthen floor, and something rolled right back!
