How to earn from Amazon with your rescue's website

With Amazon Associates, your rescue can earn a small commission from Amazon when people buy through your own links. It's free, and any commission goes straight from Amazon to your rescue. Here's how to get started, step by step.

  1. It's free to join.Go to affiliate-program.amazon.com and click Sign up.
  2. Sign in.Use your rescue's Amazon account, or create a new one. A separate account just for the rescue keeps things tidy.
  3. Add your website and social pages.List your rescue's website and the social pages where you'll share links. Amazon looks for public pages with your own posts.
  4. Pick a store ID.Something like yourrescue. Amazon adds a short ending, so it will look something like yourrescue-20.
  5. Describe your site.Say you're an animal rescue sharing news about your donkeys, and how you'll share links: your website, your newsletter, your social posts.
  6. Take the tax interview.A nonprofit enters its legal name and EIN. Amazon pays your rescue directly.
  7. Choose how to get paid.Pick a payment method, such as direct deposit, in your account settings.
  8. Make your book link with SiteStripe.Sign in to Amazon with the same account and go to the book's page (search Seven Little Donks and the Secret Map or ISBN 9798982376800). In the SiteStripe bar at the top, click Get link, then Text. Copy the link and paste it into your website, newsletter or post.
  9. Add Amazon's disclosure near your links.“As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.”

Good to know

Three sales in 180 days. Amazon reviews your account after your first three qualifying sales, which need to happen within 180 days of signing up. Your own orders don't count. Linking a few other things you already recommend, like hay feeders, grooming brushes or favorite books, can help you get there.

Where links can go. Your website, your social posts, and emails to people who signed up to hear from you. Not on printed flyers or handouts. For print, use a free babydonk.com short link instead.

If Amazon says no. That happens sometimes, and that's OK. Email us and we'll help you share the book another way, like your own short link.

Amazon may change its steps. Always follow Amazon's current instructions and rules in Amazon Associates help and how SiteStripe works.

Need help?

Email [email protected] and we'll walk you through it.

The fine print. Sharing the books is always optional. Commissions from your own Amazon Associates account are between your rescue and Amazon, and rescues using their own Associates links follow Amazon's rules for their own accounts, including Amazon's disclosure. Short links and plain links don't carry anyone's Associates tracking ID.
