About the books
What age is Seven Little Donks for?
Ages 3 to 8. Each book is a 40-page, full-color rhyming picture book made for reading aloud. Little ones love the bouncy rhyme, and older kids love hunting for the 13 treasures hidden in the pictures.
What is Seven Little Donks and the Secret Map about?
On a cold, rainy day in Drearyland, Billy Belly finds an old, tattered map to a sunny paradise. Getting there takes the whole pack, plenty of teamwork and a little luck. It’s Book 1 of the series, a story about friendship, courage and sticking together. See Book 1.
What is Queen Michelle and the Tiny Seeing Lens about?
Hard-working Michelle has a cozy den and the things she earned, but she’s the only Donk in it. When a tiny disc of glass shows her the good hearts of the soggy neighbors outside, she has a choice to make. It’s Book 2, a warm story about working hard, choosing to share and seeing the good in everyone. See Book 2.
Do the books need to be read in order?
No. Each book stands on its own. In Book 1 the Donks follow the Secret Map together. From Book 2 on, each Donk gets a story of their own, starting with Queen Michelle.
What are the 13 hidden treasures?
Every Seven Little Donks book hides 13 treasures in its pictures. A Second Map at the back of the book gives a picture clue for each one, so readers can hunt for them page by page.
Who wrote and illustrated the books?
Matt Clement is the author and illustrator. The idea came from six miniature donkeys he passed every morning on the drive to school in Atlanta. The books are published under the Baby Donk Books imprint of Clementine Ventures LLC in the Scottsdale area, Arizona. About Matt.
Does Matt do school readings or author visits?

When do the books come out?
Both books publish on November 13, 2026: Seven Little Donks and the Secret Map (Book 1) and Queen Michelle and the Tiny Seeing Lens (Book 2).
What formats and prices are there?
Each book comes in paperback for $13.13 and hardcover for $23.13. Both are 40 pages, full color, 8.5 × 8.5 inches.
