Matt Clement
Matt Clement is the author and art director of Seven Little Donks, a series of rhyming read-aloud picture books for ages 3 to 8. He wrote every word, and sketched and art-directed every scene, from the Donks themselves to the 13 treasures hidden in each book.
Matt grew up curious and creative, with a dad who was a teacher and an artist and a mom who was a teacher and a pianist. He went to college on an art scholarship and graduated with an English degree, so pictures and words have always been part of him.
The series began on the school run, when Matt and his boys passed a meadow of six miniature donkeys every morning and started giving them names and stories. Read how it started.

Why 13?
Born on the 13th, Matt has always seen 13 as lucky, and he likes proving the old superstition wrong.
Off the page
When he’s not writing, Matt is on the tennis court or golf course, or cheering on football from the stands. He’s a former high school coach.
